Chico Police Arrest Suspect on Halloween Night Shooter

The Chico Police Department said they arrested a 24-year-old man in connection to the shooting that took place on Halloween night that injured a 21-year-old former Chico State student.

Police said the received multiple calls in the early morning hour of November 1 for gunshots in the 700 block of Normal Avenue. Police later learned the scene of the shooting was where a Halloween house party was taking place.

Once on scene, officers learned the victim had already been taken to the hospital by an ambulance that was in the area and that the victim had been shot multiple times after a physical fight happened during the party.

Plice said Tyrell Powers was identified by investigators as the shooter and they obtained a search warrant for Power’s arrest for attempted murder.

Power’s has been booked into the Butte County Jail with a $1,000,000 bail. Officials said Powers may also face additional charges.
