The owner of Fairbanks Paving reviewed his video surveillance footage and observed a white male adult inside of his business take multiple checks, place them in his pocket, and leave the business with the checks. The male subject was later identified as Jay Thompson, 57 years old of Sacramento, CA.
When Thompson stole the checks, he was inside of the business during normal business hours asking for a job application.
On 11/05/2017 at approximately 1632 hours the owner of Fairbanks Paving contacted the Oroville Police Department and told Officer’s he believed the subject who stole from his business was in the Dollar Tree Parking lot.
Officer’s arrived and located Thompson in the parking lot. Thompson admitted to stealing the checks and was booked into the Butte County Jail on theft related charges.
This crime may not have been solved if it were not for the owner of Fairbank’s Paving being proactive and installing video surveillance cameras to capture the crime.
