Chico, CA – A suspect wanted in connection to a Christmas Eve shooting in downtown Chico which sent one young woman to the hospital, is in custody. 18-year old Alexanne Danis of Red Bluff, was located in Rancho Cucamonga; San Bernardino County.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office made contact with Danis while responding to a call of a reported disturbance. During the incident, Danis provided deputies with a false name. Upon further review, deputies positively identified Danis as a suspect wanted by Chico Police under a warrant for attempted murder.
On Sunday, December 24, 2017 just after 8:20PM, Chico Police received a call of a shooting that had just taken place. Initial reports stated the shooting occurred in the alley between W. 1st Ave and W. 2nd Ave. Patrol Officers responded to the call, checked the area and located a female, in her 20’s, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to Enloe Medical Center for treatment.
Based on the initial investigation of the shooting, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Danis. During the past two weeks, Chico Police Detectives actively pursued various leads and information regarding the suspect and other individuals involved in the incident.
Danis is being held at a San Bernardino County Jail pending criminal proceedings in that county, for new charges of providing false information to law enforcement officers. Upon conclusion of that case, she will be transported to the Butte County Jail. Charges against Danis related to the Chico Police Department attempted murder warrant are pending, based on further review by the Butte County District Attorney’s Office.
