January 04, 2018, Oroville Police Officers initiated an investigation into an incident that resulted in the death of a subject. During the days following this incident, Oroville Police Officers conducted follow-up investigation on numerous leads received. Multiple leads on the whereabouts of the alleged suspect, Joshua Sealy, were received and each of them were investigated thoroughly. On January 8, 2018, Oroville Police Officer M.F. Sears received a lead on the possible whereabouts of Sealy.
Based upon the above-mentioned investigative lead, multiple Oroville Police Officers assisted in a detail that resulted in the location and ultimate arrest of Joshua Lee Sealy (30 years-old). Sealy was contacted and arrested, without incident, in the parking lot located at 5250 Olive Hwy., within Butte County (Lakeside Market & Gas). Sealy was unarmed at the time of his arrest. There were no injuries to any officers or citizens during this incident.
Sealy was transported back to Oroville Police Department where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail for violation of 187(a) of the Penal Code (Murder). Sealy remains in custody without bail.
