Berry Creek death ruled a homicide by Butte County Office Detectives

Berry Creek, Ca—Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) detectives continue to investigate a suspicious death in Berry Creek. Deputies responded to a call regarding a suspicious death in the area of Black Bear Road on January 4, 2018 at 3:00PM. BCSO Investigations unit also responded and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Due to evidence located at the scene, BCSO detectives have ruled the death a homicide. The victim has been identified as William Chrisman, age 68, from Berry Creek.

Detectives have not identified a motive or suspect, and the relationship between the victim and the suspect/s is unknown at this time; however, detectives do not believe this incident to be a random act of violence.

Initial Press Release 1/5/18: On January 4, 2018, at 3:00PM, Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious death in the 200 block of Black Bear Road in Berry Creek.

Due to evidence at the scene, the death was ruled suspicious in nature. BCSO Investigations Unit responded to the scene and an investigation is ongoing at this time.
