Oroville Police Department Asking for your Help Identifying an Armed Robbery Suspect that Threaten the Clerk at AM/PM East with a Knife

On February 26, 2018 at approximately 8:35 p.m., Oroville Police Officers were dispatched to 2639 Oro Dam Blvd. E. (AmPm) regarding a reported armed robbery.  Oroville Police Officers Mike Sears & Shane Carpenter responded to the call and the first officer arrived less than one minute after being dispatched.  Initial reports received indicated that a clerk within the business had possibly been stabbed by the suspect.  Upon arrival at the business, OPD Officers determined that there wasn’t a stabbing, however, the suspect did threaten the clerk with a large knife.

Further investigation revealed that at approximately 8:30 p.m. a white male walked into the business, presented a large knife and ordered the clerk to provide him with money.  The clerk, fearing for her safety, complied with the instructions and the subject left the business with an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency and some items of merchandise that he stole from behind the counter.  Upon leaving the business, the clerk and a patron gave chase of the suspect, who fled towards Walgreens, over some fences and was last seen running eastbound through Oroville Hospital parking lot.

The suspect is identified as a white male, approximately 5’05-5’08” tall and approximately 145-175 pounds.  The subject had an unknown type of material covering his face, concealing his identity. The subject was last seen wearing blue jeans with various holes and rips on the front of them and a grey long sleeve, hooded shirt.

An extensive check of the area was conducted and various subjects were contacted and interviewed.  Although identifying information is limited, Oroville Police is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in this incident.  OPD Officers are in the process of gathering additional surveillance footage from neighboring businesses, parking lots and the area the subject fled in hopes of being able to provide an accurate description.  If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Oroville Police Department’s Investigation Unit at 530-538-2448.  Callers may remain anonymous.
