Update: Winter Storm Warning issued February 2 at 2:45AM PST expiring February 5 at 4:00PM PST by NWS Sacramento CA
Areas Affected: Western Plumas County/Lassen Park; West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada
Series of winter storms expected to bring periods of dangerous mountain travel. Heavy snow forecast in the Western Plumas mountains and Sierra Nevada today. Strong wind combines with heavy snow resulting in near white out conditions. Snow level lowers to 3500 to 4500 feet Sunday with snow impacting the Coastal Range.
Colder storm Monday into Tuesday will bring heavy mountain snow and strong wind with significant snow in the foothills. Travel into the high country is strongly discouraged through early next week.
* WHAT…Heavy snow occurring. Travel will be very difficult to impossible, especially today and Monday. Tree branches could fall as well. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 10 feet expected, with localized amounts up to 13 feet.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…South to Southwest wind gusts over 60 mph can be expected at times over higher terrain. Be prepared for near zero visibility during these periods. Road closures likely.
