CAL FIRE Urging Residents to Prepare for Fire Season Monday Event to Kick-off Wildfire Preparedness Week

– Wildfire Preparedness Week is an important opportunity for California’s communities to reduce the number of damaging wildfires by increasing public preparedness and safety through education, preparedness and prevention measures. As wildfires increase in number, CAL FIRE, with our partners, will kick-off Wildfire Preparedness Week with a media event in Sacramento on Monday, May 6th at 1:30 p.m.

  

Who: CAL FIRE will be joined by Governor Gavin Newsom, Secretary Wade Crowfoot of Natural Resources, the California National Guard, US Forest Service, Cal OES, CHP and other local, state and federal fire and emergency officials.

 

What: Wildfire Preparedness Week Kick-Off Event. State, Federal and local public safety officials will discuss how emergency responders are prepared for year-round wildfires and how the public needs to take on the responsibility to be prepared as well.  

 

When:  Monday, May 6, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. Media is asked to arrive and be set up by 1:00 p.m.
