Oroville Resident Arrested on the November 8, 2018 Cottonwood States Mobile Park Homicide

On November 08, 2018, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Oroville Police Officers were dispatched to an address on Cottonwood Circle, within the Cottonwood Estates Mobile Home Park, regarding an unresponsive subject.  Upon arrival, Oroville Officers entered the home and located an unresponsive female. 

Oroville Police Department’s Investigation Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.  Through this investigation it was determined that 86-year-old Greta Putnam was the victim of a homicide.  Members from the Department of Justice assisted with this investigation, which has been on-going.

Based upon a detailed investigation conducted by the Oroville Police Department, with the assistance of the Department of Justice, a suspect was identified.  A warrant for the suspect’s arrest was issued on the morning of May 02, 2019.  Later that evening, 42-year-old Brian Scott Madding, of Oroville, was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail for Murder.  Madding is being held on $1,000,000.00 bail.
